Life Lately

Currently…

Skiing windham mountainIf somebody could explain to me how Christmas is in five days, that’s be spectacular.

I feel like I’ve been living from the laundry basket to the suitcase and back again for the past two months. Somehow the pile in the laundry basket never gets smaller, only bigger with each passing week, but that’s a different rant for a different post.

Time is flying by and I can’t even remember what I had for lunch yesterday let alone what I wanted to write about this week, so I’m taking a page from the handbook of lazy bloggers everywhere and sharing what I’m currently…

…Wearing

My new duck boots, which I finally pulled the trigger on after mentioning that I was considering them in this post. I’ve never owned an LL Bean product in my life, but you guys, these boots are every bit as amazing as the die-hard fans say they are.

I wore them in the Catskills where there was about a foot of snow on the ground this past weekend, and my feet didn’t get wet or cold once. This is a game changer for someone who spent last winter miserably switching off between soaked tennis shoes and ice-cold rain boots (hi, me).

They’re comfy, they’re warm, and most of all they’re a zillion percent waterproof. I’m thrilled.

…Reading

Anxious for Nothing by Max Lucado. It’s all about dealing with anxiety in a productive way and not letting it take over your life. Is it a bad sign that this book was gifted to me? (Thanks, mom!)

I’m about a quarter of the way through and loving it so far. And look, I’m soooo zen! It’s written from a Christian perspective, but I think a lot of the takeaways are relevant regardless of your religious preference.

…Eating

A salad to counteract the buckets of cheese and carbs I’ve been indulging in the past few weeks. I have my first wedding dress fitting on Thursday, and if I did the math correctly one salad equals negative 3,000 French fries, right?

Cheese plate…Watching

The new season of Vanderpump Rules, which I am LIVING FOR. This is my absolute bottom-of-the-barrel trash TV guilty pleasure, except without the guilt because let’s be real, it’s television gold. I take a 30-minute break in the middle of each day to eat lunch and watch something completely mindless, and man does Vanderpump Rules meet the criteria. It’s fantastic.

…Feeling

Super excited to spend Christmas with my family, but bummed about leaving John and the pets behind.

Johnny has to work on Christmas (gotta love the news business) and we spent Thanksgiving with his family, so I’m opting to head to Florida for this one. I’d pack them all up in my suitcase and take them with me if it weren’t for those damn carry-on rules. Side note, how is there not yet an airline that lets you bring dogs on board? I mean beyond service dogs and “anxiety dogs.” It’s gotta be the next billion-dollar idea.

I’m off to finish tying up the 5,296 loose ends that are currently dangling in my face before I hop on a plane tomorrow. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas/had a wonderful Chanukah. It’s been real, 2017.
